Case 4

Progress

Radical hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and pelvic lymph node dissection was performed. Pathology showed squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix and VAIN III at the vaginal cuff with clear margins. The patient received adjuvant whole pelvis irradiation and cisplatin. Vault smear 9 months later was negative for intraepithelial lesion or malignancy

Vault smear 15 months later: high grade squamous intraepithelial neoplasia (HSIL). Vaginal biopsy revealed VAIN III. Vaginectomy was performed (Picture 4). Pathology showed VAIN III and clear resection margins.
